*SIGH* Yet Another Reason To Hate The Red States....

Although truthfully, I don't know if Pennsylvania is a Red state, but anyways, I'm getting off topic. So today, I'm on www.msnbc.com getting my daily news fix. I swear since I've moved here to Vancouver, I feel so ignorant, my upkeep on current events has been spotty at best. But anyways, I'm reading the news and I come across the story here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28269290/?gt1=43001 which is about the uproar in some shitty Pennsylvania town because some racist red-neck hicks had a kid and named it Adolph Hitler Campbell. No, sadly its not a joke. Turns out little Hitler is turning 3, and his parents were pissed because the people at the local Shop-Rite had some balls and told them to go get their kids cake at some other store that supports mass murder and general hatred (note it was ultimately Wal-Mart who put the kids name on the cake...what does that tell you?)

So of course I have a problem with all of this. You can't name your kids Adolph Hitler Campbell and JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell and not be racist, or not expect that you'll run into problems like this. Its not like you named your kid Oprah or after someone else everyone loves. Of course the father of these future Klan members goes on in the article to talk about how he isn't racist, that he wasn't brought up to avoid people of other races, but he just wasn't supposed to mix with them socially or romantically. So if that isn't racist, tell me what is? cause I'm pretty sure, that's racism. Never mind the problems these poor bastard kids are going to face later in life when god forbid, they become functioning members of society who actually have to work for a living. Would you hire someone named Hitler? cause I'm pretty sure I wouldn't. I also have a problem with this, because racism is learned at home, and if those are the kinds of values those parents are instilling in those kids, then I seriously weep for the future of America. Of course this only further highlights the cultural differences between Canada and the US even more. We don't teach our kids to hate here. We are a proud multi cultural nation, and I for one am now even happier that I'm Canadian.
