The Day I Almost Severed A Digit.

Ok, so I didn't almost sever a digit, I did however, slice the tip of my right ring finger clean off with a beautifully sliced piece of green pepper. I suppose I will walk you through my day, it all started off so well yesterday......I didn't have to work until 4:00, and it was a beautiful day outside too, Bonus. I woke up at 9:46 ish and was delighted to know I hadn't slept through MacGyver! again, Bonus. I watched MacGyver and thought..."Hmmm...I think I need to go to 'Safeway' and I did. So after MacGyver and two episodes of the Cosby Show and numerous "trips to Safeway" I was also HUNGRY so I got up, showered, put my face on and got dressed and decided to slice up some green pepper and cucumber for my sandwiches to take to work and at the same time, make myself a breakfast bagel in the process. Thats when it all fell apart. By the time I am up and ready for breakfast, its already 1:00pm and episode 2 of MacGyver has just started, so I turned the living room tv up loud so I can slice my veggies and still know what was happening. I reached for the slicer and the green pepper and put the pepper to the slicer and glide it toward the surprisingly sharp blade.........OH MY LORD!!!! SEARING PAIN!!!! I pull my hand away from the blade and look at my finger bleeding profusely all over the floor and my clothes.

HOLY SHIT!! I say to myself and proceed to panic! "Oh My God!!!" I start saying and think to myself..."who to call?" I picked up my cordless and dialed my mother at work. She finally answers after about 4 pages! Gah! doesn't she know I am losing quarts of blood? so she eventually tells me to wrap it in gauze and drive myself to the medicenter. I say I'll try and proceed to wrap what is left of my finger in gauze only to notice that I cannot possibly drive myself as when I tilted my hand up at all, blood would start to run down my arm. My mother had to leave work to pick me up and drive me. I don't think I have ever gotten such prompt service at the medicenter! I was in and examined in about 2 minutes! it pays to come in dripping blood.

The doctor dtermines that we cannot stitch anything as I sliced a sizeable portion of the tip clean off. "The only thing we can do for it is try to stop the bleeding. Oh and you'll need a tetnus shot as well." Crap! I hate needles. So They dress the wound and thus far it hasn't come through what they've put on me but it hurts like a sonofabitch! I have to go back and get it looked at today and "redressed".
